Principal’s Report

School Council Forum (Cynthia and Asma to share)

School Happenings:
- Projector Install - 2 rooms
- Band Performance at PETHS (Nov. 21) - under the direction of Mr. Lo performed in the PETHS
Showcase/Competition and will be performing at the PETHS winter concert
- Winter Concert Coming December 4 - grades 1-4 (not all classes but most) - students will be
able to see the concert during school hours for dress performances - if your child is in the
performance then the you would have gotten communication about the concert
- TV Public Display - up and running, school is working around the rules around it and how it will
benefit the school
- Parents can not drop off lunch at portable and bus loop for safety reasons
Fundraising Update:
- Every class at least 80% participation
- $5540 so fa

To Do:
- Guest Speaker Vetting Process - we need to give families 14 days notice, content, where the
company is coming from, and full slide decks, social media profiles - also including speakers
and companies that SC brings in
- PRO Grant - Castlemore and Stonebridge: wants to partner and engage - social media and
anti-bullying - this year it has increased to $800 - workshop for parents for social media
awareness
- Principal Profile - needs to be reviewed/updated (comment enabled) - SC will inform the board
about the kind of principal that parents want in general, what are your goals for your children
and what is the profile of the principal to uphold those goals
- School Improvement Plan - the goals of the school that are set and discussed with the SO -
student and staff identity is a focus at Beckett among all the other focuses of York Region
- can read the Principal Profile to get all the details
- Asma and Cynthia will lead it and the voting members will take a look and add, make
suggestions
- ask Lavina to put in the School Cash Online that the SC japanese food is Halal

Cost Sharing:
- new index
- Beckett is at 50% 50% - depends on socio economic index
- Cost Sharing due date is February 2025
- Tech -7000
- Library 5000
- Well-Being - 300 (cricket and curling are ideas)
- still need about 10 more projectors and $3100 each

Go over Volunteer Forms from Parent Interview Night
- 19 volunteers from there 6/7 of them for fun fair
- Whatsapp Asma made different committees for the different groups
- Feedback: do events earlier
- Box of ideas: Winners of Gift Cards are,,,, year end yearbook for the whole school to purchase,
Wednesday night family engagement, pickleball

Fun Fair
- Tentative Date: June 13
- Send out volunteers sign up form for the January meeting

Debate Club Proposal (Grade 5-8)
- Canada After School Group
- after Public Speaking and Debate and last year we did public speaking
- start with a free night: What is Debate (intro for students and parents)
- which will kick off the 10 sessions (2 hours in length) for $100
- we can connect with the nearby school to run debate competition
- after the intro night we will take down names and families will have to pay on School Cash online
- expecting 50-100 participations, limiting about 20 students each school and then 4 students
from each school to compete.
- the competition to be set in the multi-purpose room
- this company has to be vetted before they come to do the intro night (website, social media, slidedeck, police check)

SC Family Night: Feb 5 6-8pm
- student volunteers
- Board Games, pickleball, selling snacks (samosas, popcorn, pizza), arts and crafts
